Water Plus scoops Global Gold to add to its growing tally of best practice prizes

The UK’s largest water retailer Water Plus has received a top environmental accolade.


The company, whose main office is in Stoke-on-Trent, was a Global Gold Award winner for Water Management in the Green World Awards 2023.


Operated by The Green Organisation, an international non-profit environment group, the Green World Awards are keenly contested.


Water Plus – a joint venture between Severn Trent and United Utilities – supports organisations across all sectors with their water accounts, helping customers to save water and lower their environmental impact.


The Gold award recognised its best practice in working with organisations around their water use and water efficiency.


Andy Hughes, Water Plus Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to receive our first Gold in the Green World Awards, recognising our work to help organisations and raise awareness around the opportunities and savings – from looking closer at water use to taking steps to cut waste.


“Our technical water expertise and customer information and support is helping cut water waste across England and Scotland and identifying issues early that may cause disruption, which also helps keep running costs low.


“From helping sites install water reduction approaches and extra tracking, along with highlighting how water efficiency helps organisations, to increasing tree-planting in the UK to give a boost to biodiversity, we’ll continue taking action and helping towards sustainability goals.”


Water Plus provides water and wastewater services including billing, customer service, meter reading, account management and technical water services for more than 710,000 customer supply points in England and Scotland.


The company is celebrating its latest accolade on the back of an impressive list of other recent prizes.


It won Automation and Continuous Improvement Award in The Forum Innovation and Transformation Awards 2023, as well as The Forum Quality and Improvement Team of the Year Award, in The Forum Quality and Customer Experience Award 2023.


Also this year it scooped the Sustainable Customer Service Award at the UK Customer Satisfaction Awards presented by the Institute of Customer Service.


Last November Water Plus landed a Gold in the Water Efficiency category in the 2022 International Green Apple Environment Awards.


Water Plus is highlighting water efficiency to help organisations of all sizes under its #BeWiseOnWater awareness campaign, including on its online Help area here – and on its business social media channels.
